![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We started school together, and it is interesting to see this all as we were discussing this idea, and he was sharing it with me. I know Arto as well because we were childhood friends. So, Arto started working on this with our Chief Scientist, Stepan, and at some point a year after that, we decided to start the formal company and pursue this journey. So there was a really good match at that point, and that's how it all started. So I thought to myself, why don’t people use AI for this? It was back in 2016 when I met my soon-to-be co-founder, Arto, and I shared this idea with him, and apparently, he was looking for an interesting idea in AI and voice to start working on. So I always ended up wishing there was a button I could click that would give me some privacy and would hide where I'm calling from. But my team was in San Francisco, so because of the time zone difference, all my morning Pacific meetings were evening time in Yerevan. And every time I was in Yerevan, Armenia, during the summers, and if you haven't been to Yerevan in the summertime, in the evenings, you don't want to be at home you want to be outside because of the great weather and everything. I used to work at Twilio, so I was living in San Francisco, and I was traveling a lot to Armenia, where I am originally from. Yeah, just to get started, can you share your founding story and how you decided to start Krisp?ĭAVIT BAGHDASARYAN: Yeah, absolutely. I'm excited to see what we will be talking about today. It's a pleasure to be on this podcast, and it's a pleasure to be your guest, in particular. I’ve been seeing how quickly it became one of the key players in the audio and audio AI space, how it is widespread all over the world right now, and how much that influenced us as a company to start and see its success.ĭAVIT BAGHDASARYAN: Thanks, Tigran. I have known Krisp for a while already, and it's particularly exciting for me since I've been seeing the development of the company firsthand. Davit is the co-founder and CEO at Krisp AI. Today I'm very excited to have Davit Baghdasaryan as my guest. I'm very excited to welcome you to the next episode of the Real-Life AI podcast series. The company also plans to expand its sales and marketing departments in the United States.TIGRAN PETROSYAN: Hello, everyone. The company's research group is based in Armenia, where the founders of Krisp also live. By the end of 2021, Krisp plans to increase the main staff from 95 to 170 people, and the AI sound research team from 25 to 45 people. Krisp management claims that the funding will be used to accelerate product development and attract a number of strategic employees for sales and marketing. In addition to RTP Global, which led the round, it involved the venture capital company B2B Storm Ventures, focused on corporate investments. The A-1 series funding round brought the company $9 million. The company entered the Gartner breakthrough technology list and received several awards. The application is used by both individuals and more than 1000 enterprises around the world, and in 2020, against the background of the pandemic, the number of active users increased 20 times. RTP Global invests in Krisp video conference noise removal software developer Such a method is advantageously different from noise cancellation technologies, which are used in hardware devices and either create an opposite sound wave to neutralize noise (active noise cancellation), or simply prevent noise from entering the ears (passive noise cancellation). The Krisp machine learning algorithm is able to detect the sounds of a human voice and choose only a certain part of it, while excluding everything else - background voices, dog barking, indoor echoes and other sounds that interfere with virtual conferences. The AI-based Krisp application works with any conference, recording, and podcasting services because the intelligent audio filter is located between the physical microphone and the selected conference application. The financing will be used to accelerate product development, attract new specialists and expand the market in the USA, Europe and Armenia. In mid-February 2021, it became known that RTP Global invested in Krisp, a startup developing noise removal software in video conferences.
